Ever since I was a kid, I would have nights like this.
3am, staring out my window, looking at the stars. Wishing I could be one.
But be careful what you wish for.
I couldn't have been the only person on Earth that was awake, but it sure felt like it.
It's the only time I ever fit in.
This is my type of night.. lights, camera, action! When boredom strikes, so does the devil. Knocking at my door with a package to deliver. Nothing but bad ideas with good intentions.
You're either going to fall from the sky or fly & that's a chance I'm willing to take. Hop out my window like a rock skipping against water because there's no way I could leave out the front door. Sprint down the street for no reason, the street lights made me feel like a superstar. I knew I had been here before. Keep the cameras rolling because there's no telling what I'm going to do next.
My shine brightens up the darkest of alley ways. That's why I don't discriminate against my heroin addict childhood friends. It all depends on how the story's told & my verse might save their life. I remember when I was ready to end this race of life early, until I heard Paul play 'Garden Grove' on guitar.
The stars ain't too far, we just sell ourselves short. The mountain tops aren't high enough for me. I ski around & play in the snow, finally come down & walk right back up the hill. Sometimes it feels like the devil made a deal with me, because even when things go wrong they end up going right.
Questioning your sanity while listening to the whispers of your conscious. You start to realize that every decision you've ever made in life was right. Pop a pill to cure the pain & have a drink to forget the present were the only answers to this multiple choice test. But soon the drugs & alcohol faded away & I was addicted to the relationships I built through them.
I guess I'm not the only star in the building. Living life like we've only got one shot at this. No regrets because my sins helped me write this movie script. Shooting stars are the flashiest, but they don't last the longest. But then again they do say "The good die young." So live free or die trying.
